Salem OR - The Oregon State Parks and Recreation Commission opened recruitment December 9 for a new Oregon Parks and Recreation Department director. The recruitment will be open until January 10, 2014, or as long as it takes to attract a pool of qualified applicants. The department's current director, Tim Wood, is retiring after 10 years in the position. An interim director, Lisa VanLaanen, will serve as director starting January 10, 2014.

Lisa VanLaanen, 42, has worked for the State of Oregon for 15 years, the last seven with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department as one of its assistant directors responsible for agency administration and the Oregon State Fair and Exposition Center.
