Summer ILL Procedures for K12 Libraries
When you borrow materials from the State Library, you are most likely using interlibrary loan (ILL) which is a transaction between institutions. Because K12 library staff is not consistently available to receive mail at school during summer vacation and because ILLs cannot be mailed to home addresses, we have different options for K12 ILL requests made during the summer:
1. Make the request via your public library. (Some libraries charge a small fee; check first.)
2. If you live near or in Salem, call 503-378-8800 and make arrangements to pick up the
item between 1:00 and 4:00 pm. Bring a valid Oregon ID with current address. In this
case, you are not using ILL. Instead, you are creating a patron account and personally
checking out the item.
3. Request the item once school is back in session.
If you are unsure about the timing of your request, follow the non-summer directions and someone from Document Delivery will inform you of the available options.
