3 out of 4 abducted children who are taken to be killed are killed within the first three hours.
The AMBER Alert Law Enforcement Alerting Portal (LEAP),
AmberAlert.com, is the Primary Alerting Partner used by Oregon during AMBER
Alert activation to notify the public in a child abduction case. Initially
developed by the AMBER Alert Web Portal Consortium, the AMBER Alert LEAP is a
privately held technology company providing alerting technology and services to
law enforcement agencies for the issuance of AMBER Alerts.
The AMBER Alert LEAP enables law enforcement to sign-in
and enter all the necessary data regarding a missing child. With one keystroke,
live data and any updates are disseminated to anyone who registers to receive
the AMBER Alert information via E-mail, FAX, text messages and RSS feeds
supporting law enforcement agencies, broadcasters, state agencies, federal
agencies and other alerting systems such as the National Center for Missing
& Exploited Children (NCMEC) and individual subscribers.
The alert notifications are in support of other secondary
distribution notifications such as Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), highway
message signs, the Emergency Alert System (EAS), and media news broadcasts /
