An Oregon City man was cited by Oregon State Police (OSP) after he was found New Year's Day morning seriously injured in an Interstate 5 rest area bathroom south of Wilsonville following a single vehicle crash.
On January 1, 2014 at approximately 7:18 a.m., an OSP sergeant responded to the southbound Interstate 5 French Prairie Rest Area near milepost 282 following several reports of a suspicious person with injuries. While checking the rest area, the person was found inside a rest area bathroom and medical personnel were dispatched.
CHAEL JAKOB LYNCH, age 22, from Oregon City, was injured a couple hours earlier after crashing his Toyota Camry into trees lining the rest area entrance ramp next to the southbound lanes of Interstate 5. The car sheered a large tree in half and was partially concealed by downed tree debris and vegetation. LYNCH was transported to Oregon Health & Science University for treatment of serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Subsequent investigation led OSP to cited LYNCH for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants - Alcohol.
