Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Sunday morning's two-vehicle fatal traffic crash along Highway 207 about three miles south of Interstate 84 that resulted in the death of an adult female.

On January 6, 2013 at approximately 10:52 a.m., a 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup driven by JUDITH F. BURNS, age 63, from Bit Timber, Montana, was northbound on Highway 207 near milepost 16 when it began to pass a northbound 1998 International flatbed truck attempting to make a left turn. The Toyota pickup returned into the northbound lane and crashed into the back of the flatbed truck that was traveling at a slow speed beginning the left turn.

BURNS, who temporarily was living in Ione, Oregon, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in her pickup, EVAN JESUS DELACRUZ-MEZA, age 45, from Ione, was not injured. Both were using safety restraints and the pickup's airbags deployed.

The two occupants of the International flatbed truck were not injured. They are identified as driver SCOTT J. MADISON, age 55, and passenger KATTIE L. PETTYJOHN, age 45, both from Echo, Oregon. Both were using safety restraints.

OSP troopers from the Pendleton Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Aaron Dietz is the lead investigator.

OSP was assisted at the scene by Stanfield Police Department, Echo Rural Fire Protection District, Hermiston Fire & Emergency Services, and ODOT.
