A Bend-area woman was seriously injured Wednesday morning in an ice-related single vehicle rollover traffic crash on Highway 197 south of Maupin. The woman was t rapped in her overturned pickup for about an hour before she was extricated and transported to a Bend hospital.
On January 8, 2014 at approximately 7:48 a.m., a 2002 Ford pickup driven by LANETTE L. KELLER, age 36, from Bend, was traveling northbound on Highway 197 near milepost 40. As the pickup pulled out to pass another vehicle, the driver lost control on black ice and slid toward the shoulder where it rolled several times through a fence. The pickup came to rest on its top with KELLER trapped inside seriously injured.
Fire personnel from Juniper Flat Fire Department and medic from South Wasco County Ambulance responded with OSP and ODOT. KELLER was extricated and transported by air ambulance to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend. She was using safety restraints.
OSP is continuing the investigation. Recruit Trooper Matthew Newby is the lead investigator.
