Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Thursday morning's single vehicle traffic crash along Interstate 5 about three miles north of Glendale that resulted in the death of a commercial truck driver.
According to Master Sergeant First Class Jeff Proulx, on January 10, 2013 at approximately 11:40 a.m., a 2013 Freightliner truck driven by BRUCE MERRILL, age 71, from Medford, was northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 83. For an unknown reason, the truck crossed over the southbound lanes, through a ditch and struck a tree. MERRILL was pronounced deceased at the scene.
OSP troopers from the Grants Pass work site are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Safety restraints were used.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Azalea Fire District and ODOT. The freeway was not blocked.
