An Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division investigation into the unlawful taking of buck deer led to the arrest of an Eagle Point man Sunday while OSP troopers served a search warrant at his home.

Following a month-long investigation into illegal deer hunting, on January 13, 2012 OSP troopers served a search warrant at an Eagle Point residence for ROBERT MATTHEW MARTIN, age 35, and JESSICA B. MARTIN, age 24. The investigation began December 8, 2012 when a large trophy buck deer was shot and killed off Crow Foot Road in Jackson County. OSP Troopers received a tip and later obtained a search warrant for the MARTINS' residence.

Troopers recovered three buck deer heads, several weapons, over 2 pounds of marijuana and other evidence from the residence. ROBERT MARTIN, who allegedly took three buck deer after the season ended December 2012, was taken into custody and lodged in the Jackson County jail on the following charges:

* 3 counts of Taking Deer Closed Season
* Unlawful Possession of a Game Mammal
* Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance - Marijuana
* Felon in Possession of a Firearm

His wife, JESSICA MARTIN, was issued citations by OSP for:

* Taking Deer Closed Season
* Waste of Wildlife - Deer
* Hunting Prohibited Method to wit: Artificial Light
