Based upon a detailed description provided by the victim, Eugene Police Sergeant Scott McKee developed a composite sketch of the unidentified suspect sought in connection with Tuesday night's assault on the Oregon State University campus in Corvallis. The suspect's description is provided in today's news release listed below. For safety reasons, the victim's name is withheld and she has requested no media contact or interviews.
Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is asked to call OSP University Patrol Office at (541) 737-3010 option 2.
Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of Corvallis Police Department, is asking for the public's help to identify a suspect who allegedly assaulted a woman as she walked along a street in the northern part of the Oregon State University (OSU) campus late Tuesday night. The woman, who is not an OSU student, fought with the suspect and potentially caused a nose injury before he fled the area. OSP and OSU Department of Public Safety issued information on this incident to the OSU community earlier this morning.
According to Sergeant Vonn Schleicher, on January 15, 2013 at approximately 10:10 p.m., a 20-year old female Corvallis resident was walking in the area of SW 30th Street and SW Campus Way when an unidentified male approached her from behind. The suspect hit the woman on the head, knocking her to the ground and attempted to remove some of her clothing. The woman resisted the suspect and struck him in the face possibly causing a nose injury. The suspect then fled in an unknown direction.
Officers from OSP, Corvallis Police Department, Benton County Sheriff's Office, and OSU Department of Public Safety responded to the scene. A K-9 unit attempted to track the suspect but an area search failed to find him.
The suspect is described as a white male, early to mid-20s, approximately 6 feet tall, "bulky" build, short dark hair with a thin face and bushy eyebrows. He was reported to be wearing a black hoodie sweatshirt with orange "OSU" outlined in white on the front, dark colored jeans, and dark colored tennis shoes. He may have a nose injury or black eye from being struck by the female victim.
The victim had minor injuries not requiring medical care.
