Portland Man Arrested After Crashing Through Fence Attempting to Elude

Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, arrested a Portland man Saturday morning after an attempt to elude in a vehicle and on foot in the area of SE 82nd Avenue and SE Cornwell Avenue. While attempting to elude in the vehicle, the suspect crashed through a fence before abandoning the car and fleeing.

On January 18, 2014 at approximately 8:58 a.m., an OSP trooper attempted to stop a car for a traffic violation near 82nd Avenue and SE Cornwell Avenue. The driver attempted to elude briefly on area streets before crashing through a metal fence and abandoning the car. The driver fled on foot for a short distance before he was taken into custody at 9:04 a.m. without further incident.

PHILLIP LAMAR HIGGINBOTHAM, age 41, from Portland was lodged in the Clackamas County Jail for Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle, Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot, and Criminal Mischief in the First Degree.
