Update: Victim Name Release, Public's Help Request to Find Next of Kin - Fatal Pedestrian-Involved Traffic Crash - SE 82nd Ave near SE Sunnybrook Blvd

After exhausting all known leads to notify next of kin, Oregon State Police (OSP) and Clackamas County Medical Examiner's Office are releasing the name of the pedestrian victim killed last Tuesday after he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross SE 82nd Avenue near SE Sunnybrook Boulevard. The pedestrian is identified as CHRISTOPHER DEAN BRUMETT, age 35. BRUMETT had no permanent adddress and is believed to be transient.

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers is continuing the investigation into Tuesday evening's fatal collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian on SE 82nd Avenue (Highway 213) and SE Sunnybrook Boulevard. The victim was positively identified but next of kin have not been notified.
According to Sergeant Andy McCool, on January 15, 2013 at approximately 8:20 p.m., a collision involving a pedestrian and a motor vehicle occurred which was initially reported as serious injury. After emergency responders arrived on scene they confirmed the pedestrian was deceased. The vehicle and operator stopped at the scene.
The 35-year old male transient was reportedly crossing SE 82nd Avenue with another man from the west side to the east side about 500 feet south of SE Sunnybrook Boulevard when he was struck by a southbound 1997 Ford Van driven by JARED L SMITH, age 32, from Happy Valley. The collision occurred in the area between the two southbound lanes and the other pedestrian crossing with the victim was not hit. SMITH was not injured and cooperated fully with the investigation.
