Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Polk County medical examiner and Polk County District Attorney's Office, are completing the investigation into the death of an adult female found Thursday in a vehicle at the Highway 22 / Highway 18 park and ride lot. Follow up investigation indicates the woman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Updated information indicates on January 24, 2013 at approximately 12:18 p.m., Yamhill County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene after receiving a report of a woman in a vehicle at Highway 22 and Highway 18 junction. A deputy confirmed a deceased woman was inside a 2011 Toyota RAV and at about 1:00 p.m. OSP was contacted to respond and investigate.
The woman was identified as KAREN LYNN DUTRA (last name aka: Lewis and Harp), age 39, from Willamina. Next of kin were notified.
OSP was also assisted at the scene by Polk County Sheriff's Office. Detective Scott Yunker is the lead investigator.
