According to Sergeant Tyler Lee, on January 29, 2013 at approximately 3:05 a.m., a 1995 Jeep Wrangler driven by MATTHEW LEE WILSON, age 24, from Medford, was northbound on a straight stretch of Highway 99 near Cabbage Lane when it traveled onto the shoulder, collided with a utility pole and then crashed into a large tree. The vehicle became engulfed in flames and WILSON, who previously lived in Ashland, was pronounced deceased at the scene after Jackson County Fire District 5 firefighters extinguished the fire.
OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Senior Trooper Tom Harrison is the lead investigator.
