Double Fatal Crash Highway 20 West of Sisters

Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Bend Area Command are continuing the investigation into Friday afternoon's double fatal crash on Highway 20 west of Sisters. Names of all involved are provided in this release.

On January 31, 2014 at approximately 2:28 p.m., a silver Acura SUV, operated by BRUCE SIRNIO, age 61, from Salem, was westbound on Highway 20 near milepost 86. A black Toyota pickup, operated by ANDREW DEVERNA, age 42 year, from Newberg, was eastbound on Highway 20 at the same location. For unknown reasons the ACURA crossed into the east bound lane and crashed nearly head-on into the Toyota pickup.

Both SIRNIO and DEVERNA received fatal injuries from the crash. A passenger of the Toyota pickup, WENDI DION, are 41, from King City, was transported by ground ambulance to Saint Charles Hospital in Bend for non-life threatening injuries.

All involved parties were wearing safety belts and both vehicles' air bags deployed.

OSP was assisted at the scene by ODOT, Black Butte Ranch Police Department, Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Black Butte Ranch Fire Department and Sisters Fire Department. The highway was closed for about three hours during the investigation.
