Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Wednesday evening's fatal pedestrian crash that occurred on Jasper-Lowell Road near Highway 58 that resulted in the death of a 15 year old female juvenile from the Lowell area. Names will be released at a later time so that extended family of the deceased may be notified.
On February 5, 2014 at about 6:06 p.m., a 1986 Ford pickup, operated by a 57 year old male, from Dexter, was northbound on Jasper-Lowell road about a Â1/4 mile from the Highway 58 intersection. The male driver of the Ford pickup observed three persons on the shoulder of the road on a bike, scooter and a skate board. As the driver of the Ford pickup approached the three persons he steered to the left to safely move around them when he collided with a female juvenile in the middle of the roadway. The driver of the Ford pickup immediately stopped at the scene and provided first aid to the female juvenile until EMS arrived at the scene. The female juvenile, age 15, from Lowell, received fatal injuries from the crash. It was dark at the time of the crash.
The driver of the ford pickup is cooperating with investigators.
OSP was assisted at scene by Lane County Sheriff's Office, ODOT and Dexter Fire Department. Jasper-Lowell-Jasper Road is currently closed while investigators continue their work at the scene.
