The body of a deceased person tentatively identified as a Klamath Falls-area man missing since December 2012 was found early Wednesday afternoon near where his car was located abandoned December 23rd on a spur road north of Keno, Oregon.
According to Oregon State Police (OSP) Sergeant Robert Fenner, on February 6, 2013 a former member of Klamath County Search & Rescue was walking through a forested area along Clover Creek Road when he came upon the body of a deceased male. The citizen notified police and OSP Criminal Investigation Division detectives, Klamath County Sheriff's Office, and Klamath County District Attorney's Office responded to the scene. The deceased person was tentatively identified as ROBERT LEAR, age 39.
An autopsy is pending by the State Medical Examiner's office to determine the cause of death. His next of kin have been notified.
OSP detectives began an investigation when LEAR was reported missing to OSP by family members on December 20, 2012 after they last heard from him nine days earlier. On December 23 and 24, Klamath County Search & Rescue resources and OSP detectives found no trace of LEAR after his car was found on a spur road off Clover Creek Road where it was believed to have been abandoned for approximately two weeks. Challenges for searchers including significant snow fall, weather conditions and the period of time LEAR was missing were factors in the decision to suspend the search at that time.
