Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Yamhill County Medical Examiner's Office, is continuing the investigation into the death of an adult female found Tuesday at Bald Peak State Park in Yamhill County from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On March 12, 2013, OSP troopers and detectives, along with Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, responded to a report of an adult female found deceased at Bald Peak State Park northwest of Newberg. Preliminary investigation indicates a 55-year old woman from Sherwood was found deceased by someone walking dogs at the park and she died from a self inflicted gunshot wound. Her vehicle was found nearby.
Oregon State Park personnel closed the park during the investigation.
Senior Trooper Bridget Taylor is the lead investigator.
