A Dillard, Oregon man was arrested Friday afternoon on several charges after an Oregon State Police (OSP) trooper recognized him while operating a vehicle with a suspended license. When stopped south of Winston, the man attempted to elude on foot and was arrested following a brief foot chase.

According to Sergeant Dave Randall, on March 15, 2013 at approximately 5:00 p.m., an OSP trooper attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 99 south of Winston after recognizing the driver, SAMSON JONES, age 41, from Dillard, as having a suspended license. Upon initiating the traffic stop, JONES ran from the vehicle on foot with the trooper in pursuit. While attempting to elude arrest, the trooper deployed a Taser and took JONES into custody.

JONES was not injured and required no medical attention. When searched, JONES was found in possession of 11 small plastic bags of methamphetamine weighing approximately 9 grams.

JONES was lodged in the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:

* Parole Violation
