Fatal Traffic Crash - Highway 36 near Junction City

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into a single vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred on Highway 36 in Lane County Saturday morning.
On March 30, 2013 at approximately 10:59 a.m., OSP and local emergency responders were dispatched to a single vehicle traffic crash on Highway 36 near milepost 41. Preliminary investigation indicates a GMC 3500 driven by PAUL V. TEMPLETON, age 72, from Cheshire, was eastbound and for an unknown reason crossed over the westbound lane.  The vehicle left the highway and struck a tree.
TEMPLETON was pronounced deceased on the scene. He was wearing safety restraints.
OSP troopers were assisted at the scene by Lane Rural Fire, Department, LifeFlight and ODOT. The roadway was partially blocked for approximately 3 hours during the investigation. Trooper Kyle Bachmeier is the lead investigator.
