A Central Point-area man was arrested early Thursday morning following his attempt to elude officers from Oregon State Police (OSP) and Central Point and Medford police departments. The man fled on foot from the vehicle after Medford police deployed spike strips and was taken into custody a short distance away.
On April 11, 2013 at approximately 12:10 a.m., an OSP trooper attempted to stop a 1994 Honda Accord on Highway 99 at Highway 62 after it eluded Central Point police. The vehicle continued to attempt to elude OSP into Medford until it was disabled after Medford police deployed spike strips in the area of E. McAndrews Road and Royal Avenue.
The driver, CODY REA LEDEZMA, age 24, from Central Point, fled the vehicle on foot leaving behind two passengers. LEDEZMA was taken into custody following a brief foot chase at 12:20 a.m. He was found in possession of over 4 ounces of marijuana, and small amounts of methamphetamine and oxycodone.
LEDEZMA was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on the following charges:
* Two (2) counts of Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle
* Misdemeanor Attempt to Elude on Foot
* Two (2) counts of Reckless Driving
* Recklessly Endangering Another Person
* Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance - Methamphetamine, Oxycodone, and Marijuana
The two passengers, a 24-year old male and 17-year old female, were not arrested.
