Two people were injured Friday morning in a commercial truck crash on Highway 126E about five miles east of Vida in Lane County.
On April 11, 2014 at approximately 6:30 a.m., a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer containing computer servers driven by FRANK BENSON, age 64, from Carmichael, California, was eastbound on Highway 126E near milepost 32 when the truck and trailer traveled partially onto the right shoulder. BENSON attempted to steer back into the eastbound lane but the trailer struck a tree and power pole. The truck and trailer overturned onto their side and came to rest across the highway blocking both lanes.
BENSON was transported by ground ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend. Co-driver/passenger CHARLES TRONCIN, age 46, from Vallejo, California, was asleep in the truck's sleeper berth and was transported by air ambulance with non-life threatening injuries to the same hospital.
BENSON was cited by OSP for Fail to Maintain Lane of Travel.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Lane County Sheriff's Office, McKenzie Fire & Rescue, and ODOT. Recruit Trooper Bryan Kolacz is the lead investigator.
The highway was closed for over 3 hours.
