Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the medical examiner and Morrow County Sheriff's Office, are conducting an investigation into the cause of death of a 59-year old male found unresponsive Friday morning in his vehicle after stopping in the Stanfield Rest Area along Interstate 84. The cause of death appears to be related to a medical problem.
According to Lieutenant Greg Sherman, on April 12, 2013 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Stanfield Fire District, Hermiston Fire and Ambulance, and Stanfield Police Department responded to a report of an unresponsive adult male at the westbound Interstate 84 Stanfield Rest Area near milepost 187. Upon arrival they found BRIAN L. HENDERSON, age 59, from Perris, California, unresponsive and not breathing. Attempts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
HENDERSON was traveling with his elderly mother when they stopped around midnight at the rest area to get some rest. His mother was taken to a local motel to wait for other family members to arrive.
