Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Sunday morning's alcohol-involved serious injury crash that occurred along Highway 47 south of Gaston in Yamhill County. Both involved drivers were transported to a Portland-area hospital for treatment.
On April 14, 2013 at approximately 11:33 a.m., a 1986 Nissan pickup driven by GARY CLARK, age 62, from Gaston, was northbound on Highway 47 near milepost 28. As the Nissan pickup approached another northbound vehicle stopped to turn left onto Goodin Creek Road, for an undetermined reason CLARK braked hard and lost control of the pickup. The pickup traveled into the southbound lane of travel in front of a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta driven by SHELIA WHITE-CLARK, age 42, from McMinnville. WHITE-CLARK unsuccessfully tried to avoid the pickup and her vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the pickup.
CLARK was transported by air ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) with serious injuries.
WHITE-CLARK was transported by ground ambulance to OHSU with non-life threatening injures.
Safety restraint use information was not available. Charges are pending toward the pickup's driver related to the ongoing investigation. There is no known relationship between the two drivers.
Senior Trooper Bridget Taylor is the lead investigator. OSP was assisted at the scene by Washington County Sheriff's Office, Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, Gaston Fire Department and ODOT.
