OSP, Salem Fire, and Oregon Military Department Respond to Suspicious Powder Incident at Department of Revenue Building in Salem

The Department of Revenue building in Salem resumed all business operations Wednesday morning after a suspicious powder substance was determined to be not hazardous or toxic. Personnel from Oregon Military Department's Civil Support Team and Salem Fire Department completed the testing and evaluation about 10:30 a.m.
 
On April 17, 2013 at approximately 7:00 a.m., emergency responders went to the Department of Revenue building in the Capitol Mall area in Salem after an employee reported an unknown powder substance was in an envelope. The first floor of the building was evacuated and secured until the substance was tested and determined to not be hazardous or toxic.
 
Oregon State Police will continue investigation and no more info to be released at this time.
 
Personnel from Salem PD, FBI, and US Postal Inspector's Office were also on scene.
