Woman Arrested Following Attempt to Elude in Stolen Car - Highway 97 near Klamath Falls

Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of Klamath County Sheriff's Office and Klamath Falls Police Department, arrested a woman Saturday morning after she attempted to elude officers in a stolen vehicle along Highway 97 in southern Oregon.
 
On June 1, 2013 at approximately 8:11 a.m., an OSP trooper spotted a 1995 Buick four-door that was the subject of an attempt to locate following theft of fuel in the Chemult area. The vehicle was also determined to be reported stolen earlier that morning from the Eugene/Springfield area.
 
The trooper attempted to initiate a traffic stop near milepost 246 when the driver sped up and attempted to elude southbound at speeds over 100 mph. As the vehicle approached Klamath Falls, officers from Klamath County Sheriff's Office and Klamath Falls Police Department successfully deployed spike strips near milepost 267. The driver pulled the stolen vehicle over near milepost 271 where officers initiated a felony stop at gunpoint and took the female driver into custody.
 
JENNIFER B. JONES, age 28, from Portland, was lodged in the Klamath County Jail on the following charges:
 
* Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle
* Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle
* Theft in the First Degree
* Reckless Driving
* Furnishing False Information to Police Officer
 
JONES was also cited for Driving While Suspended and Exceeding the Post Speed in Excess of 100 mph.
