*** The following is a Department of Corrections news release ***

An inmate died unexpectedly early Wednesday morning at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility in Wilsonville. As with all unanticipated deaths in state prisons, the Oregon State Police Criminal Investigation Division is conducting an investigation.

Staff found inmate Precious Anderson deceased in her cell (where she was the sole occupant) at approximately 12:05 a.m., Wednesday, July 3. She was 18 years old. Anderson entered DOC custody on May 9, 2013, on one count of assaulting a public safety officer out of Linn County. Her earliest release date was Dec. 3, 2014.

Next of kin has been notified. DOC will release more details when the investigation is completed.

CCCF is a multi-custody facility in Wilsonville that houses more than 1,200 women. It provides a range of correctional services and programs including alcohol and drug treatment, education, work opportunities, cognitive programming, and pre-release services. The minimum facility opened in 2001 and the medium facility opened in 2002. CCCF is Oregon's only women's prison.
