Following an extensive multi-agency investigation into a Salem-area burglary ring, the Oregon State Police hosted a scheduled public viewing of seized property believed stolen from victims in the Marion/Polk County areas prior to January 15, 2013. As a result of the public viewing, 37 items were returned to their owners. Recovered items returned to owners included jewelry, pictures, personal documents, tools, family heirlooms, and electronics.
To help return seized property to its rightful owner, the Oregon State Police hosted the public viewing and offered theft/burglary victims an opportunity to scheduled times on July 1 and 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Salem Area Command office, The invitation to view recovered property was open to any theft/burglary victims who reported a theft to an area law enforcement agency before January 15, 2013.
Individuals making an appointment were required to provide a reporting agency case number with a list of items for verification. If no report was taken, they needed to prove ownership by sales receipt and serial number.
