A Falls City man was found Thursday afternoon seriously injured after an overnight motorcycle crash off Highway 194 (Monmouth Highway) between Monmouth and Highway 223 in Polk County.
On July 11, 2013 at 3:00 p.m., Willamette Valley Communications Center notified Oregon State Police (OSP) Northern Command Center dispatch of a motorcycle crash found off Highway 194 about three miles east of Highway 223. The original report was received into Willamette Valley Communications Center at 2:54 p.m. OSP, Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Polk County Fire District #1 responded to the scene where they confirmed a seriously injured man was found lying in berry bushes after crashing off the highway.
JACOB J. GODFREY, age 35, was transported by REACH air ambulance to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis for treatment of serious injuries. (According to a hospital update on July 12, he is in fair condition)
Preliminary investigation indicates late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning the 2003 Yamaha motorcycle was westbound on Highway 223 near Fishback Road when it traveled off the highway and struck a tree. GODFREY was ejected and landed in roadside berry bushes where he was found Thursday afternoon by a friend checking area roads with another person after he didn't come to work in the morning. GODFREY and motorcycle was spotted after they saw a mark on a road side tree, stopped and heard him call out for help.
Senior Trooper Andrew Goffrier is the lead investigator.
