Two motorcycle occupants were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a collision with a dump truck along Highway 229 near Siletz in Lincoln County. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
According to Sergeant Cari Boyd, on July 16, 2013 at approximately 12:06 p.m., a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by JOHN HAUSMANN, age 62, from Toledo, was northbound on Highway 229 near milepost 21. For an unconfirmed reason, the motorcycle crashed the centerline and collided with a southbound 1990 Kenworth truck driven by JERRY THOMPSON, age 41, from Siletz.
JOHN HAUSMANN and his passenger/wife ANGELA HAUSMANN, age 54, were ejected from the motorcycle and seriously injured. They were transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis. Their injuries are believed non-life threatening and they were both wearing protective helmets.
THOMPSON was not injured. He was using safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Newport Area Command office are investigating and were assisted at the scene by Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Siletz Valley Fire District, Toledo Fire Department, Lincoln County Public Works Department, and ODOT.
