Oregon State Police (OSP) was notified by Multnomah County Medical Examiner's office that the driver of a vehicle involved in a June 1, 2013 fatal traffic crash at the Highway 211 intersection with S. Meridian Road about three miles east of Woodburn died this past weekend. The crash also resulted in the death of his adult female passenger.
According to Trooper Ted Moisan, on June 1, 2013 at approximately 4:45 p.m., a 2007 Dodge Caliber four-door driven by TEDDY STEVEN GITTS, age 59, from Canby, was southbound on S. Meridian Road. After stopping for a stop sign, the Dodge moved across Highway 211 and was struck in the driver's side by a 2003 Dodge pickup traveling westbound on Highway 211. After impact, the Dodge Caliber spun into the eastbound lane where it collided with another pickup.
TEDDY GITTS and passenger DEBORAH GITTS were seriously injury and transported by LifeFlight to separate hospitals. DEBORAH GITTS was taken to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center where she died June 3.TEDDY GITTS was taken to Oregon Health & Science University where he died July 13th.
Both victims were using safety restraints. A dog in their vehicle was ejected and died at the scene.
