A man with a felony warrant was arrested Thursday afternoon by Oregon State Police (OSP) after attempting to elude a trooper along Interstate 5 and Highway 42 in Douglas County.

According to Lieutenant Doug Ladd, on July 18, 2013 at approximately 12:30 p.m., an OSP trooper attempted to stop a 1990 Acura Integra two-door for a traffic violation northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 118 south of Roseburg. The driver failed to yield, attempting to elude the trooper at speeds over 100 mph before taking exit 119 to Highway 42 and heading westbound toward Winston.

The trooper slowed down due to congested traffic and was about to terminate his attempt to stop the eluding when it attempted to turn south onto Grange Road where the driver lost control. The vehicle went off the road into bushes and stopped.

The driver, identified as DEE S. THOMAS IV, age 31, from Azalea, immediately surrendered and was taken into custody. He was later lodged in the Douglas County Jail on the following charges:

* Felony warrant - Fail to Appear
* Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle
* Reckless Driving
* Recklessly Endangering Another Person
* Assault in the Third Degree

An 18-year old female passenger received minor injuries. She was treated at the scene by medical personnel and then released after cooperating with the investigation. She was not arrested.
