An 84-year old California man died Friday morning at a Klamath Falls-area hospital following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection from of the northbound Highway 97 off ramp and So uthside Expressway Bypass. Oregon State Police (OSP) is conducting the investigation.
On July 19, 2013 at approximately 4:55 a.m., a 1987 Mercedes Benz sedan driven by JOHN MARQUIS MOSBY, age 84, from Summerland, California, was on the Highway 97 northbound off ramp which is controlled by a stop sign at the Southside Expressway Bypass intersection. The Mercedes was turning left from the off-ramp onto the Southside Expressway Bypass when it was struck in the driver's side by a 1994 Ford pickup driven by CHANDLER LINDSEY-ROBERTS, age 21, from Klamath Falls.
MOSBY was transported to Sky Lakes Medical Center where he died from injuries about five hours later. He was using safety restraints.
LINDSEY-ROBERTS was using safety restraints and was not injured.
OSP troopers from the Klamath Falls Area Command office are investigating the cause of the crash. Trooper Michael Nork is the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Klamath Falls Police Department and Klamath County Fire District No. 1.
