A 58-year old female died early Friday morning in a single vehicle traffic crash after traveling off Highway 47 about six miles north of Yamhill and colliding into a power pole. Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
On July 26, 2013 at approximately 12:48 a.m., a 2008 Nissan Altima four-door driven by LUISA APPELL PROPER, age 58, from Yamhill, was southbound on Highway 47 near milepost 31. For an unknown reason, the Nissan traveled off the highway and struck a power pole, coming to rest against the pole.
PROPER was the lone occupant and she was pronounced deceased at the scene. Safety restraint use information is not available. She previously lived in Yuma, Arizona.
OSP troopers from the McMinnville Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Trooper Chad Drew is the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, Yamhill Police Department, Yamhill Fire Protection District, Gaston Rural Fire District, and ODOT. The highway was closed at the crash scene over two hours.
