Oregon State Police (OSP) is holding a second opportunity to help return seized recovered property to its rightful owner while hosting another public viewing on Monday, August 5, 2013, from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Salem Area Command office located at 3710 Portland Road NE. This conditional invitation to view recovered property is open to any Marion/Polk County area theft/burglary victims before January 15, 2013.
According to Trooper Nick Rhoades, individuals who come to view recovered property should be prepared to provide a reporting agency case number with a list of items for verification. If no report was taken, you must be prepared to prove ownership by sales receipt and serial number. Individuals who may be leaving the area during the listed date can also call Trooper Rhoades at (503) 378-3387 ext. 31300 to try and schedule a different date and time.
The first viewing, which was by appointment only in early July, helped return 37 items to owners. Recovered items returned included jewelry, pictures, personal documents, tools, family heirlooms, and electronics.
