An adult male was seriously injured Sunday afternoon in a rock climbing accident at Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area about 24 miles northeast of Coos Bay. The man is identified as JEFFREY N. HARDEN, age 39, from Coos Bay.

According to Oregon State Police Trooper Josh Mullins, during the afternoon of August 11, 2013, HARDEN was climbing a rock wall near a waterfall when he fell approximately 30 - 40 feet to the rocky ground below. He was seriously injured and initially treated by Bay Cities Ambulance paramedics before they transported him a few miles from the park to a field where an air ambulance landed.

HARDEN was transported by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield.
