Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into Monday's fatal traffic crash on Highway 204 west of Tollgate in northeast Oregon. The crash resulted in the death of one person and injuries to two other people.
According to Sergeant Sterling Hall, on August 19, 2013 at approximately 11:29 a.m., a loaded log truck driven by CHANCE E. DOUBRAVSKY, age 33, from Goldendale, Washington, was eastbound on Highway 204 near milepost 19 negotiating a right curve when the truck and trailer began to roll onto its side. The logs came off the trailer onto the highway and struck two vehicles, killing one person.
The victim is identified as LUBY CAROL TEEM, age 69, from Elgin, Oregon, operating a Mercedes passenger vehicle.
The driver of a Ford Focus passenger car, JAN M. PATTON, age 56, from Pendleton, was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton for treatment of minor injuries.
DOUBRAVSKY had minor injury and refused treatment at the scene. He remained at the scene is cooperating with the investigation.
OSP troopers from the Pendleton and Ontario Area Command offices are continuing the investigation. No enforcement action taken at this time and no other information to be released pending completion of the investigation.
ODOT, East Umatilla Fire Protection District, US Forest Service, and Umatilla County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
