The Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division Coos Bay office is asking for the public's help in locating the person(s) responsible for the unlawful killing and waste of two bull elks, a 5-poi nt and 3-point, found Monday on Shotgun Creek Road in the Tioga unit of Coos County. A reward is offered through contributions from the State and local Coos County chapters of the Oregon Hunters Association.

On August 19, 2013 at approximately 8:01 p.m., OSP was notified by a citizen that a dead bull elk was seen lying in a clear cut off of Shotgun Creek Road. An OSP Fish & Wildlife Division trooper responded to the location and found two dead bull elk approximately 50 yards apart. The trooper determined both elk were shot once, left to waste approximately 20 yards from the road, and were probably killed on Friday August 16 or Saturday August 17.

A reward of up to $500 dollars is offered by the Oregon Hunters Association Turn-In-Poachers (TIP) reward program for information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact Trooper Ryan Keeler at (541) 888-2677 ext 243.
