A Port Orchard, Washington woman died Thursday at a Portland, Oregon hospital where she was being treated for injuries suffered in a Monday morning traffic crash along Interstate 84 on the east end of Pendleton.
On August 19, 2013 at approximately 10:44 a.m., a Nissan Maxima driven by ASHLEIGH CAMILLE WILLIAMS, age 21, from Port Orchard, was eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 211 when it drifted toward the center median and the driver lost control as she tried to move back toward the traffic lanes. The vehicle crashed into a guardrail before coming to rest in a ditch.
ASHLEIGH WILLIAMS was critically injured. She was initially transported by ambulance to St. Anthony Hospital in Pendleton and then transferred by air ambulance to Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. She died Thursday, August 22.
Her brother, JARED WILLIAMS, age 18, was transported to St. Anthony Hospital with minor injuries.
OSP troopers from the Pendleton Area Command office are continuing the investigation. Trooper Joseph Dezso is the lead investigator. Driver fatigue is a possible contributing factor.
Pendleton Fire and Ambulance Service, Pendleton Police Department, and ODOT assisted at the scene.
