A 31-year old Nyssa-area man died Tuesday afternoon in a crash involving his motorcycle and a farm truck at the Highway 201N intersection with SW 18th Avenue on the south end of Ontario.
According to Lieutenant Mark Duncan, on August 27, 2013 at approximately 1:11 p.m., KELLY BRENT KUBICEK, age 31, from Nyssa, was operating a 1991 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Highway 201N approaching the SW 18th Avenue intersection. A 1997 Kenworth farm truck driven by CASIMIRO PALOMO, age 75, from Ontario, was stopped westbound on SW 18th Avenue for a red light when the light turned green and the truck and other traffic began to cross the intersection. KUBICEK failed to stop for a stop signal, entered the intersection and slid underneath the farm truck's rear axles.
KUBICEK was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was wearing a protective helmet.
OSP troopers from the Ontario Area Command office are continuing the investigation.
OSP was assisted at the scene by Malheur County Sheriff's Office, Treasure Valley Paramedics, Ontario Police Department, Ontario Fire and Rescue, and ODOT.
The intersection was closed for over 2 hours during the investigation.
