A 26-year old Springfield man died early Wednesday morning in a single vehicle fatal traffic crash on Highway 138E about three miles east of Roseburg. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers from the Roseburg Area Command office are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash.
According to Lieutenant Doug Ladd, on September 4, 2013 at approximately 2:25 a.m., a 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by MARCUS NORMAN STORM, age 26, from Springfield, was westbound on Highway 138E near milepost 5. For an unknown reason, the pickup crossed the eastbound lanes and traveled up an embankment where it rolled before coming to rest on its side in the eastbound lanes.
STORM was the lone occupant and was not using safety restraints. He was ejected from the pickup and pronounced deceased at the scene.
Both lanes were closed for about three hours before one lane was open in each direction. OSP troopers are still on scene investigating. Traffic updates at www.TripCheck.com.
Assistance at the scene provided by Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Roseburg Police Department, Douglas County Fire District 2, and ODOT.
