According to Sergeant First Class Jeff Proulx, on September 26, 2012 at approximately 4:15 p.m., a 1957 Chevrolet pickup driven by JEREMY L. PIPPIN, age 35, from Rogue River, was southbound on Redwood Avenue near milepost 4 when it swerved off the highway and struck a large tree. PIPPIN was trapped in the pickup and extricated by Grants Pass Fire & Rescue firefighters. After removal from the pickup, PIPPIN was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Passenger MAX K. McCLARON, age 22, from Grants Pass, was transported by AMR Ambulance to Three Rivers Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
OSP troopers from the Grants Pass work site are continuing the investigation. Senior Trooper Eric Tholberg is the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by AMR, Grants Pass Fire & Rescue, and ODOT. The highway was closed for over an hour.
