Thirteen sheep were killed, a car caught fire, and a driver was uninjured Monday night following a collision involving a passenger car and herd of sheep in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 near Meacham in northeast Oregon.

According to Senior Trooper Amy Ford, on September 30, 2013 at approximately 8:00 p.m., a 1998 Toyota Camry driven by ROBERT ANDERSON, age 51, from West Richland, Washington, was westbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 238 when it collided into a herd of sheep in the middle of the traffic lanes. The car came to rest on the side of the freeway where it caught fire and was subsequently a total loss after firefighters extinguished the fire.

Thirteen sheep belonging to a local ranch were killed and later removed from the scene.
