Oregon State Police (OSP), with the assistance of the Lane County Medical Examiner, are completing the investigation into the death of an adult male found Thursday afternoon on the beach near Washburn State Park north of Florence. The man's name is released in this update after next of kin notification was completed and an autopsy confirmed no evidence he was the victim of a crime.
The man is identified as ALLYN ERNEST BRADFORD, age 57, from Lowell. An autopsy conducted October 9, 2012 confirmed the cause of death was coronary artery disease.
On October 4, 2012 at approximately 3:00 p.m., a report was received from Oregon State Parks & Recreation Department personnel that people walking on the beach near Washburn State Park found the body of an adult male. OSP troopers and detectives responded to the scene to investigate and confirmed the man was camping alone at the state park. The initial investigation found no evidence he had been in the water and indicated he may have had a medical emergency while walking on the beach.
OSP troopers from the Florence and Springfield offices are involved in the investigation. Trooper Justin Goldsmith is the lead investigator.
