The body of missing Phoenix, Oregon resident JAMES LUTTER was discovered Sunday morning, October 20, in Lane County. Acting on a tip from the public, Lane County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a remote forest service road where they discovered the body of Mr. LUTTER. He was pinned underneath his motorcycle approximately 15 feet off the roadway down a 12-foot embankment where it was difficult to see the motorcycle from the roadway. Mr. LUTTER was wearing a Personal Locator Beacon, however the device had not been activated.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office thanks the media and public for their assistance during this search. The quick work yesterday evening broadcasting the missing person flyer triggered the tip that led to finding Mr. LUTTER. The Sheriff's Office also thanks the many volunteers from Douglas and Lane County Search & Rescue units who assisted their agency during this search.
LUTTER was last seen leaving the Portland area on Tuesday, October 15.
