An Indiana man died Friday afternoon while he and his wife were traveling while on vacation along Interstate 5 near Creswell. The man had an apparent medical emergency while driving and he was pronounced deceased after arriving at a hospital.
According to Senior Trooper Rick Hamilton, on October 26, 2012 at approximately 2:30 p.m., BRUCE W. The car traveled toward the center median as his wife grabbed the steering wheel and safely brought the car to a stop.
Other travelers stopped and helped her until relieved by fire and medical responders. BURNS was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend where he was pronounced deceased.
OSP troopers from the Springfield Area Command office and personnel from Lane Rural Fire District responded to the incident.
The Chevrolet may have been involved in a minor crash with another vehicle during this medical emergency. Anyone with information regarding this part of the incident is asked to call Senior Trooper Hamilton at (541) 726-2536.
