The following is a news release from the Harney County District Attorney's Office
A 49-year old man was arrested Saturday morning on a Murder charge following an investigation into the death of a Burns-area man.
According to Harney County District Attorney Tim Colahan, on October 27, 2012 at approximately 1:15 a.m., Burns Police Department responded to an incident in the 300 block of E. Jefferson Street in which EDDIE BEN BARELA, age 30, died as the result of a chest wound.
THOMAS REYES GARCIA, age 49, from Burns, was arrested and lodged in the Harney County Jail on one count of Murder.
The Harney County Major Crime Team consisting of investigators from Harney County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police Criminal Investigation Division, and City of Hines Police Department is assisting in the investigation. The investigation is continuing and no additional information to be released at this time.
