A suspicious envelope left near the west side entrance to the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) building in Salem affected west side building access for about one hour Tuesday morning while Oregon State Police (OSP) Hazardous Device Technicians examined the contents and determined it was not hazardous.
On October 30, 2012 at approximately 7:48 a.m., a report was received of a suspiciously placed envelope at the west side entrance to the DAS administrative building located at 155 Cottage Street in Salem. An OSP Capitol Mall trooper and OSP Hazardous Device Technicians responded to the scene. As a precaution, access to the west side of the building was blocked while Hazardous Device Technicians x-rayed the envelope contents and determine it contained papers.
OSP cleared the scene about 9:00 a.m. No further investigation anticipated.
