Oregon State Police (OSP) Fish & Wildlife Division is still asking for the public's help to identify the suspect(s) involved in a late October illegal killing of a bull elk found left to waste with its head removed in the Knappa / Brownsmead area of Clatsop County. A reward offer was increased up to $5,500 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case. The reward is comprised of $500 from the Oregon Hunters Association and an additional $5,000 from The Humane Society of the United States and The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust.

On October 27, 2013, the bull elk was discovered left to waste along Aldrich Point Road near Knappa / Brownsmead. The elk, with his head removed, was found lying in a grass field approximately 40 yards from the pavement near Owl Lane.

Anyone with information to help OSP identify the suspect(s) is asked to call OSP Senior Trooper Trygve Klepp at (503) 791-9486 or the Turn-In-Poacher TIP Line at 800-452-7888.

Questions regarding the increased reward offer from The Humane Society of the United States should be directed to Kaitlin Sanderson at (301) 721-6463 or ksanderson@humanesociety.org
