OSP Hazardous Device Techs Examine Suspicious Object in ODOT Capitol Mall Building Stairwell

A suspicious object found in a first floor stairwell in the Oregon Department of Transportation building at the State Capitol Mall location in Salem led to about an hour-long evacuation of employees Monday afternoon until Oregon State Police (OSP) Hazardous Device Technicians examined the object and determined it was not hazardous.
On November 5, 2012 at approximately 2:30 p.m., a report was received that an ODOT employee spotted a suspicious object in a stairwell at the ODOT administration building located at 355 Capital Street ND in Salem. OSP Capitol Mall troopers and OSP Hazardous Device Technicians responded to the scene. As a precaution, the building was evacuated until OSP Hazardous Device Technicians determined it was not hazardous.
No further investigation anticipated.
