Oregon State Police troopers are continuing the investigation into the cause of a fatal traffic crash that occurred late Friday night or early Saturday morning along the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Glendale. The crash was reported after someone spotted the vehicle down a steep embankment.
According to Sergeant David Beck, on November 17, 2012 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a citizen reported seeing a crashed vehicle about 100 feet down an embankment along the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 79. Responding emergency personnel confirmed there was a deceased adult male inside the 1997 GMC Sonoma pickup.
Preliminary investigation indicates the driver lost control for an unknown reason, traveled off the northbound lanes and over a guardrail before coming to rest next to a large tree down the steep embankment. The lone occupant driver was identified William Allen Furia, age 33, from Glendale. The time of the crash hasn't been confirmed.
Trooper Heather West is the lead investigator.
OSP was assisted at the scene by local fire personnel and ODOT.
